OnlineThrive Donates 50% of All Profits to Kiva.org in Q1 of 2011
Online Leader Aims to Share and Invest in the American Entrepreneurial Spirit
Chicago-based company OnlineThrive has decided leverage their entrepreneurial spirit by investing it in others by providing Kiva.org with 50% of their profits for the entire first quarter of 2011. OnlineThrive pursue philanthropic interests alongside commercial pursuits by investing in the local community and supporting and encouraging the entrepreneurship. OnlineThrive’s donation will support the growth of entrepreneurship by investing in Kiva’s operations in the United States.
Bill Drayton, the Ashoka Founder and one of the pioneers of the social entrepreneurial evolution in the last two decades, once said that “Social entrepreneurs are not content just to give a fish or teach how to fish. They will not rest until they have revolutionized the fishing industry.” It is this inspiration that led OnlineThrive to the abnormally high donation of 50% of all Q1 profits to Kiva.org. The purpose of the donation is to inspire the entrepreneurs they are investing in by revolutionizing the “traditional” corporate giving ceiling of 10%.
Just like in the spirit of social entrepreneurship, OnlineThrive’s strategies are a gift that keeps on giving. The company provides expertise in designing solutions to help traditionally offline businesses to “thrive” online. OnlineThrive invests heavily in researching and buying high-quality keyword website domains, and then sells them to businesses who understand the value of increased lead flow. Leveraged properly, these assets provide better online exposure and drive more customers to their websites from search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo.
Through this donation, OnlineThrive also hopes to inspire the businesses they work with to consider a similar level of investment with Kiva. OnlineThrive embraces a “hybrid” approach to making sure their for-profit structure has a significant component of social entrepreneurship. Kiva’s focus on helping burgeoning entrepreneurs through micro-lending makes it a perfect fit.
